A Novel, a Novella, and a Taco

This week I made progress on my new novel outline (#3 in the series) and started a novella while I tried not to think about what all the beta readers are thinking about Recovery House. All the books say you’re supposed to take a break after you finish a draft so you can come back to it with fresh eyes. It’s hard, though!

I’m at 5,700 words so far on the novella, so that’s going well. Or at least, it’s getting longer, and stuff is happening in it. There’s a ghost, and an agoraphobic therapist, and an unwilling property manager. Lots of room for conflict there.

All the writing progress comes at the expense of running progress, but I may back off from my recent goal of running a marathon and just focus on running 5k and 10k races as fast as I can. The cool thing about getting older is that the average runner is a lot slower than the young’uns, so I could win my age group at a much slower pace. The downside is that I’m also old and may be slower than the average older runner. Whatever! I haven’t made up my mind on this 100%, and I may change my mind several times more. Lately, I’ve had to make choices between writing and running with my time, and I’ve been choosing writing. Also, it’s gross and dark outside and boring and cold in the garage.

Lately, Mel B has decided she likes to be a taco!
